Job Description

Container xChange is the leading online platform for container logistics and operations. We simplify the logistics of global trade, making the processes surrounding the container as simple as the container itself by providing a neutral infrastructure for all logistics companies.

Our team of 150+ like-minded xChangees from 60+ nationalities has made this possible! We have scaled far beyond the small start-up we once were and continue to disrupt the industry together.

This role can be based in Hamburg or remotely within +/- 2 hours of the Central European Timezone.

Your responsibilities in a nutshell

  • You build it, you run it: Design and build new features as part of your engineering team ensuring accountability and ownership throughout the process.
  • Challenge, maintain and nurture existing features in close collaboration with Product, Business and Design
  • Work on cutting-edge modern technologies while contributing to a dynamic, forward-thinking organization, identify technical debts and seek sustainable solutions.
  • Support the optimization of our coding processes and push the boundaries of our toolset and architecture
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues and actively help drive the team towards our technical vision

Requirements

What makes you a great fit

  • You can represent your team’s interests adequately and feel comfortable taking initiatives
  • 3+ years experience with Java Spring Boot web applications
  • Good understanding of microservices architecture (e.g., event sourcing) and messaging brokers (e.g., Kafka)
  • Basic understanding of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes)
  • A good understanding of modern engineering processes and agile methodologies
  • Strong believer and practitioner in high code quality and tech standards
  • Fluent English paired with efficient and effective communication

Our Tech Stack

  • Backend: Java 17, Spring Boot, Apache Kafka, Rabbit MQ
  • Database: MariaDB
  • Testing: JUnit, Mockito, Cypress, Integration testing via test containers
  • Infrastracture: AWS, Terraform
