Kalmar is looking for a summer trainee to join one of the onboard automation development teams, developing automated solutions for moving containers around a terminal. In this position, you will be able to work within challenging new technologies to do with navigation and/or Machine perception depending on your interests.

Our onboard team's keywords are, for example, Python, C++, Machine Learning, Control Theory, Navigation Theory, Camera, LIDAR, Radar, Simulation. In this position you will get to know our automation solutions. Depending on your interest and capabilities you will also be able to make contributions to the platform.

This position is located in Tampere, Rusko. This is a fixed-term position for the summer period and start and end dates can be agreed.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Tasks will depend on your experience, capabilities and interests. There are many exciting opportunities that you can contribute to. You will be working within a team testing the created software components in simulated environments, participating in live testing of a full scale terminal automation system (Kalmar One) in our backyard test field, further developing some of the internal tooling and products related to these components.

What you’ll need to succeed

• Robotics, Navigation, SW Development or equivalent studies; We expect that you have completed advanced courses or you have your own projects for reference
• Fluency in both written and spoken English is a must since our working language is English
• Experience from technologies that we are using are seen as an advantage
• You are energetic and enthusiastic to learn and contribute.
