Business Overview

The Technology Platforms Division (TPD) is responsible for building and operating the infrastructure and ecosystem platforms which power the Rakuten Group. Our mission is to provide our Rakuten Cloud and Ecosystem Platforms which will deliver Core Value to accelerate the growth of Rakuten Group services.

Department Overview

The Incentive Platform Department (INPD) provides incentive and payment solutions that empower Rakuten's businesses around the world. The platforms are continually adding capabilities and scale to accelerate the Rakuten ecosystem synergies.

The Point Service Section is responsible for the development and operation of incentive services such as PointClub, which is based on the Rakuten Platform (Point, Coupon, etc.), and is the most popular of its kind in Japan. The Point Service Section's priority mission is to enhance the value of the Rakuten ecosystem and contribute to its businesses based on these incentive services.

Overall Position Details

We are looking for SRE engineers for front and backend web systems who can construct and improve infrastructure through public/private cloud, and support production troubles. You will join daily huddles to report progress and work closely with product managers, project managers, and lead other team members to manage infrastructure. You will be expected to take ownership of the quality, delivery, and reliability of our services, and will seek to continuously improve systems and processes for your teams.

Your Responsibilities Will Be As Follows

• Manage monitoring and alert handling tools
• Construct new monitoring environments for each product
• Work to improve service performance and latency
• Handle operation and maintenance support, production support (on-call), and service troubleshooting
  
  

Mandatory Qualifications

• Experience with SRE (3 years+)
• Knowledge of modern monitoring tools
• Experience constructing and managing a monitoring environment such as Kibana ELK stack
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: Go, Python, C, C++, Java, Rust, Perl,
  
  

Ruby, or shell script

• Experience constructing and managing k8s environment
• Experience with UNIX operating systems internals and/or network
• Experience with CI/CD tools (ex. Jenkins, CircleCI)
• Experience in automation and configuration management using Chef, Ansible,
  
  

Terraform

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with Public Cloud (GCP/AWS/Azure)
• Experience working in role(s) that require knowledge of IP network systems and protocols
• Experience with web application development
• Experience working as a software engineer
• Experience working as a test engineer
• Experience working with cross-cultural, global teams based across different locations
