About This Exciting Opportunity

As our Software Engineer you will contribute to the development of comprehensive sets of software and data tools that will support the technology transformation work of AIMS including the delivery of novel data collection and analysis systems.

This role will develop mobile and desktop software, including UI/UX components, to support data workflows from field collection systems, including image and video-based platforms, where the workflows include the collection of metadata, pre-processing of data, local analysis including the application of AI models, and the transfer/integration of data to cloud-based services and work directly with internal and external clients to ensure the systems developed are intuitive and easy to use and conform to cultural norms for the groups using them including the use of appropriate language, symbols and design elements.

About You

You will hold a tertiary qualification in computer science, computer programming or equivalent demonstrated work experience with considerable experience using Python-3 or Java / Kotlin, and experience with App development (preference for Android based platforms), along with previous exposure to: Git version control, agile methodologies, database design and project management systems such as Jira.

As a Software Engineer you will have high level experience with embedded computer systems running Linux including Nvidia based systems and show a demonstrated ability to work and solve problems independently under limited supervision within a small team of programmers and developers and work with clients to deliver outcomes and solutions that meet their needs with a focus on delivering technical solutions to non-technical users.
