Full Stack Developer

POLITICO is seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer to join our pioneering and growing media company in Brussels. Political decision-making is distributed, disorganized, and generally hard to follow at a larger scale, this is the issue we work on at POLITICO. By collecting, normalizing, organizing and thoughtfully presenting information we give individuals and organizations greater insight into political processes around the world.

What You’ll Do

As a full stack developer at POLITICO, you’ll work on all aspects of our stack ranging from data collection systems, REST and GraphQL APIs, background jobs, serverless applications, frontend single page applications, and cloud infrastructure. You will be an important player in an agile development team dedicated to building the technology that delivers our POLITICO Pro platform to policy professionals.

Our team holds itself to the highest standard and employs techniques such as conventional commits, continuous integration, test-driven development, infrastructure as code, and agile development with two-week sprints. We expect you to align with our core values and be a driving force towards further improvements of code quality and excellence in delivering our applications to customers.

What You’ll Need

• Proven experience in building and working with large multi-service applications.
• Fluency in English; any other European language is an asset.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable in an international environment.
• Highly proficient in JavaScript, with a strong track record in web development, while demonstrating the ability to adapt to various programming languages as needed.
• Experience with frontend frameworks like Vue or React.
• Understand asynchronous concepts like message queues and service interoperability.
• Having experience with cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services and infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform) is a bonus).
• Experience with Kubernetes is a bonus.
• Experience with React Native and Ruby on Rails is a bonus.
