If you work with developers or data scientists or anyone wrangling data, you’ll probably see a sticker with the tusks and trunk of the Postgres elephant on the lid of a nearby laptop. EDB has a lot to do with that. We’ve been major contributors to Postgres since the beginning, and we are proud to call thousands of boundary pushing customers our partners. Proud though we are, we are not resting on our laurels. There’s plenty of work to do. The good news is that everything we do will impact Postgres, which is to say that it will impact the world. No pressure. We are currently looking for a hands-on software engineer to join our Database Server product development team. You will get opportunities to work on EDB’s internal database which is built on top of PostgreSQL as well as contributing to open source PostgreSQL.

What your impact will be:

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into executable tasks.
• Collaborate closely with other members of the development team on large software features.
• Design, code, test, and document new EPAS feature requested by customers
• Perform root cause analysis on production incidents to prescribe optimal solutions and recommend prevention strategies.
• Collaborate with other development teams to design and implement robust integration patterns and processes.

What you will bring:

• Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed international team.
• 3+ years of experience working as a hands-on Senior software engineer.
• 2+ years of experience in DB internals OR In-memory database.
• In-depth knowledge of C/C++.
• In-depth understanding of databases and knowledge of SQL.
• Understands and willing to follow whole modern software development life cycle processes.
• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in the Computer Science discipline.

Plusses:

• Experience contributing patches to the Postgres open-source project is a major plus.
• Calm and methodical approach with good communication skills.
• Experience working within a “you build it, you own it” culture.
• Experience with databases in production environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills, at times this may be under pressure when in production.
• Previous involvement with the PostgreSQL community or another open source community is a plus.
