As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the development of features for key Linux and Android-based applications, ensuring seamless integration and top-tier performance. You’ll work on optimizing security, fixing bugs, and improving overall system stability while addressing issues related to crash reporting and third-party software interaction. This role requires a strong understanding of both Linux and Android ecosystems, and you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate on open-source projects, contributing to broader community development. You will also guide a global team of engineers, providing technical leadership and ensuring project success through mentorship and code reviews.

Accountabilities:

• Design and implement features for Android applications using Kotlin, C++, Rust, and JavaScript.
• Diagnose and resolve issues within Linux environments, including integration with GTK, X11/Wayland, Snap, and Flatpak.
• Engage with upstream open-source projects and communities to improve desktop environment functionality.
• Focus on performance optimization and enhancing the security of applications.
• Lead code reviews and mentor a globally distributed team of engineers.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing Linux desktop or Android mobile applications.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and practical experience with Kotlin.
• Strong knowledge of GTK, X11, Wayland, and packaging systems like Snap and Flatpak.
• Familiarity with JNI, Inter-Process Communication (IPC), and memory management.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and provide technical leadership.
• Excellent collaboration skills and a passion for open-source development
