Contribute towards building Rakuten’ s uniqueness as One Rakuten by enhancing and enriching the UX/UI of Rakuten’s ecosystem of services via creating/executing UX/UI strategies, as well as working hands on with projects from the Marketing division, CEO Office, and our businesses.

Position Details

Will be assigned as a UI designer for following types of projects:

• Developing and maintaining the ReX UI Library, (assets and components), and design guidelines.
• Provide UX/UI reviews/consultations/support/hands-on for ecosystem of service products to ensure consistent experience and quality
  
  

(ie. Reviews of service product UI assets (icons, motion, etc.), development projects for new services or PoC, creation of UI library assets/components, prototype or movie, etc).

• Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers, engineers and UX designers both inside and outside of dept.
• Development projects for new services or PoC:
  
  

・Transform ideas and concepts into concrete interfaces

・Develop mockups to effectively conceptualize and communicate high-level design strategies and detailed interaction behaviors

・Create prototypes or movie to demonstrate the UI interactions

• Facilitate and conduct ReX/Figma training or workshop sessions for internal design and product teams (designers, UI engineers, directors)
• Periodical Benchmarking and analysis of global and local product/services/apps
  
  

Work Environment

Work with internal/external UX designers, UI designers, Developers, Governance teams, and on CEO Office projects.

Mandatory Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in product/UI/web/interaction design.
• High level proficiency in Figma (UI library creation/component creation/modifications, prototyping).
• Solid knowledge of UI best practices, web interface design, motion design, interaction design, and stays current on design trends and technology evolution on the web.
• The ability to develop quick PoC and prototypes to demonstrate user interactions.
• Experience creating storyboards and mood-boards.
• Ability to create icons (low pixel count) and illustrations.
• Obsessive attention to detail.
• Works well under the direction of others and independently.
• Ability to work effectively with stakeholders with different backgrounds across different projects.
• Understands the need to balance form and function to accomplish our business goals.
• Recognizes the importance of the user, but also respects business goals and technical constraints.
• Have a rudimentary understanding of development methods for easier communication with engineers and developers.
• Fluent in Japanese (required for negotiations with domestic stakeholders, facilitate/conduct trainings and workshops, etc.).
• Fluent in English (team communication, required for negotiations with global and non-Japanese stakeholders, facilitate/conduct trainings and workshops, etc).
  
  

Desired Qualifications

• Has a basic understanding about how front-end code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) is used to build interfaces
• Video creation/editing, and motion graphics skillset
• Relevant degree, such as a BA in graphic or user interaction design, etc.
