We need your help. We’re a rapidly growing e-commerce company and need an experienced developer to review code crafted by junior developers and help architect our core systems and solutions (based on PHP+Symfony and MySQL)

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The role involves working directly with the company CTO in a small and friendly team, so you’ll get a lot of variety in the tasks you work on, and more opportunities than similar roles in larger companies. Note that we’re based in the UK, so you’d be working remotely to UK hours.

Specific responsibilities include: 

● Crafting well-structured PHP code to solve real-world business problems, from communicating with external APIs to creating reports and dashboards.

● Reviewing code created by other developers and providing feedback to enable their ongoing development to ensure that only well-written, well-structured and well-tested code is published.

● Working with the CTO to identify opportunities to improve our tech stack – and then design and deliver projects to make those improvements happen.

Required Qualifications:

Skills and Education Requirements:

● Minimum 5-10 years of experience doing advanced coding with PHP. Experience with Symfony and Doctrine are highly desirable, but translatable experience with similar systems would be considered.

● Creating well-structured, robust, maintainable and well-tested PHP code must come naturally to you and will form the core of your job.

● Experience working with git (and github) is essential.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This includes being able to articulate your concepts well (in English) and being able to provide constructive feedback to coders whose code you review.

● A solid understanding of MySQL and ability to create queries for reporting is required. If you have more advanced experience (e.g. related to database design and optimisation) then please mention on your application.

● Our core technologies include PHP, Symfony, Doctrine, Sonata Admin, composer, MySQL, git (and github), Ubuntu, shell scripts and AWS. Please mention any related experience, expertise and interest on your application.

● A heartfelt love of technology, data and automation

● A strong academic background, with a degree from a top university

● Evidence of excellent problem solving and analytical skills

● Excellent spoken and written English – you converse and communicate in English without stress.
