Senior Software Engineer

We are hiring for a Senior Software Engineer for one of our Federal Clients.

Role: Senior Software Engineer

Location of work: Canberra/ brisbane/ melbourne

Contract duration: 12 months + 24 months extension.

Security clearance: Australian Citizen

Overview:

The Development Expert role is required to design, create, test and document new and amended software components from supplied specifications in accordance with agreed development and security standards and processes. Development Experts engage in the design and the development of high-quality solutions in support of business and technical requirements. The role solves highly complex problems. Development Experts exercise a considerable degree of independence and undertake a technical leadership role, with work performed under the general guidance of senior staff.

• Duties may include some or all of the following:
• Design and develop web/desktop applications, web services, and batch jobs built using Java, Python and Microsoft .NET.
• In collaboration with in-house technical staff to support and resolve complex application issues for bespoke Java or Microsoft .NET applications.
• Technical analysis, design, software development, prototyping, unit testing and maintenance activities.
• Lead the release and ensure go-live production support and maintenance for the team's developments.
• Review and prepare reports, briefs and corporate documentation and communicate technical f indings and recommendations.
• Analyse and identify functional/business shortcomings in the software and effectively communicate with the team.
• Execute independent code reviews and execute unit tests on the developed modules.

Technical skills:

• Experience in Object-oriented software development within complex IT environments.

• Proven ability to design and develop web/desktop applications, web services, and batch jobs.

• Experience with Java SE, Unix, SOL, and Google Web Toolkit (GWT).

• Experience with DevOps practices, tools, builds, packaging and releases.
