On behalf of our established client UMATR are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Learning Engineer to spearhead machine learning initiatives. In this critical role, you’ll lay the foundation for ML/AI capabilities and lead the development of innovative solutions that enhance the platform.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead ML Development: Design, develop, and deploy state-of-the-art machine learning models to power our platform.
• Shape Strategy & Vision: Collaborate with leadership to create and execute a strategic roadmap for machine learning initiatives that align with organisational goals.
• Collaborate Cross-functionally: Partner with product managers and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities where ML can solve complex challenges and improve user experience.
• Vector Database Management: Build and manage vector databases to store, retrieve, and perform fast, accurate similarity searches on high-dimensional data.
• Data Management & Analysis: Collect, preprocess, and analyze large datasets to inform model development and derive actionable insights.
• Feature Engineering: Design and implement feature engineering techniques to enhance model performance and accuracy.
• Model Training & Optimisation: Train, fine-tune, and optimize machine learning models, ensuring they meet performance, accuracy, and scalability goals.
• Research & Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends by researching the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, bringing innovative solutions to the platform.
• Testing & Maintenance: Develop and maintain robust testing frameworks to ensure model reliability and consistency over time.
• Documentation: Document workflows, model architectures, and methodologies to promote knowledge sharing and model reproducibility within the team.

What We’re Looking For:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Experience: Proven track record as a Machine Learning Engineer or similar role, with hands-on experience building, deploying, and maintaining machine learning systems.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in Python, R, and key ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Strong Fundamentals: Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and core software engineering principles.
• LLM & Generative AI Expertise: Experience with Large Language Models (LLM) and related frameworks (e.g., LangChain), with a solid grounding in Generative AI.
• NLP Expertise: Knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques and tools for building language-centric applications.
• Vector Databases: Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, Milvus) for managing high-dimensional data and building recommendation systems or similarity search engines.
• Cloud & Containerisation: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and containerisation tools like Docker and Kubernetes (preferred but not required).
• Leadership & Autonomy: Proven ability to lead projects and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluency in English, German or French would be a great addition
