Speech Machine Learning Researcher
Location: 100% On-Site in Amsterdam, Netherlands
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated researcher to join our speech research team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science, machine learning, or a related field, with a deep interest in exploring the intersection of technology and human emotion. In this role, you will design, develop, and evaluate innovative algorithms and systems that recognize and interpret emotional cues from modalities like voice and text, enabling emotionally responsive interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research in affective computing, focusing on emotion recognition from speech and expressive text-to-speech synthesis for AI systems.
- Develop algorithms and models to improve emotion detection from multimodal data while enhancing the richness of emotions in synthesized speech.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate affective computing technologies into real-world applications, ensuring engineering requirements like low latency are met.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in affective computing, machine learning, and related fields.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data analysis tools.
- Solid understanding of signal processing, natural language processing, or related areas.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven track record of research publications in relevant conferences and journals.
- Experience with multimodal data analysis.
- Familiarity with state-of-the-art speech recognition and text-to-speech algorithms.
- Understanding of human-computer interaction (HCI) principles.
- Previous involvement in interdisciplinary research projects.
- Awareness of ethical considerations in affective computing.
