Sr./Engineer, Application Development

About the Role:

Reporting to the Head, Application Development, Packaging Asia South, you are responsible to provide technical support to customers (packaging manufacturing and its value chain) in areas of business development, troubleshooting, quality enquiries, new products trials, provide technical documentations and addressing technical queries.

Proposing and in some cases overseeing Application Development Projects (jointly with customers or internal) with the objective of identifying potential new business opportunities to expand Borouge’s offerings. To play a supporting role in identifying new customer needs as inputs to new product innovation ideas that contribute towards achieving step change innovations that drive the Packaging strategy.

Collaborate in Marketing and Sales development to promote Borouge packaging solutions on various activities such as technical presentation on trade / industry events and focal lead to machine value chain partners.

This position is based in Mumbai.

Key Accountabilities:

Industry Knowledge

• Knowledge of key product used by packaging manufacturers in SEA and ISC regions and raw material portfolios from global and domestic suppliers
• Processing technologies adopted by customers in SEA and ISC regions and key project requirements
  
  

Marketing Technical Support

• Continuous knowledge building, keeping up-to-date on the technical or procedural aspects of the job
• Participate in innovation cycle of product development / product optimization by identifying customer and market needs, trial execution and customer’s validation
• Consolidate information on market requirement, end-use application and competitive studies for internal review
• Proactive engagement and contribution in multi-functional teams on various initiatives / taskforce
  
  

Product and Process Knowledge

• Demonstrate theoretical and practical understanding of polyolefin packaging processing technology
• Possess solid knowledge of polyolefin materials’ characteristics, behaviour and its performance
  
  

Building Customer / Partner Relationships

• Provide technical support and recommendation of Borouge’s packaging solutions to existing / prospective customers in accordance to the requirement of business strategy and objective
• Address and provide technical resolution to issues relating to processing and performance of Borouge’s product
• Establish and maintain relationship with polyolefin packaging industry’s relevant value chain partners i.e technology / equipment suppliers, additives suppliers, trade associations
  
  

About You:

• University degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent science / engineering degree
• Preferably, M.Sc. degree in Polymer Chemistry / Technology / Chemical Engineering or equivalent
• Fluency in English
• Minimum 5-10 years of relevant working experience in polyolefin packaging manufacturing and/or technology providers
• Strong technical expertise in polyolefin packaging, possessing in-depth market and value chain knowledge
• Proven track record in value chain understanding and influencing
• Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
