The Engineering Infra team operates with dual responsibilities. Firstly, we focus on building the front-end of Shopee’s infrastructure platforms, crafting user-friendly tools that enhance the productivity of thousands of developers. We play a pivotal role in developing internal systems that significantly impact the daily operations of all developers. Secondly, we are dedicated to constructing an end-to-end site-building solution that provides a seamless, cloud-native development experience. This solution is integral to our internal engineering portals and various business applications.

The mission of the Shopee Tech Ops MRE (Machine Reliability Engineering) team is to ensure efficient and sustainable operation of the Shopee network and hardware level 24x7, building and maintaining massive hardware clusters for SRE and capacity, in terms of capacity, cost and hardware performance. The team provides sustainable hardware resources and stable network support services. MRE needs to communicate with the data center team to design and optimize network architecture; provide reasonable hardware configuration through hardware testing and selection according to business requirements; customize stable and efficient OS; optimize traditional operation through engineering and service means; and build a complete hardware monitoring system to improve the efficiency of fault handling.

Job Description

• Responsible for the maintenance of server and OS.
• Responsible for the system service such as OOB/BMC/Firmware/Ansible.
• Responsible for new generation server POC and config selection.
• Provide efficient and effective OS/Server solutions according to business needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related fields.
• Good computer science fundamentals: data structures and algorithms, operating systems, computer networking / security, virtualization, containerization, etc.
• Good software engineering and application architecture skills: backend / frontend development, architecture and design patterns, middlewares including cache, database, queues, file storage, etc.
• Individual traits that we are looking for: fast learning ability and a good team player, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic work environment, passionate and possessing a strong sense of ownership.

• Experience with DevOps concepts and tools.
