The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure to support the operational requirements of the organization. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network availability, performance, and security while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Network Design: Design and implement robust and scalable network architectures to support business needs.
- Network Administration: Configure, monitor, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment.
- Performance Monitoring: Analyze network performance and implement optimization strategies to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network-related issues promptly to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Security: Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and incident reports.
- Collaboration: Work closely with system engineers, IT teams, and stakeholders to align network infrastructure with organizational goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest networking technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance the infrastructure.
Required Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS).
- Expertise in configuring and managing networking hardware (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Arista).
- Experience with network monitoring tools and systems (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark).
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with cloud networking solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Solid troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and a disciplined approach to documentation and process management.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, networking, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, JNCIA).
