Senior Java Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position open to candidates within the Republic of Ireland only. We are NOT open to contractors for this position.

Salary range: 75,000 to 95,000 pa.

At Exante we are pioneering embedded parametric insurance. What does that mean? We make totally automated insurance policies that pay before the customer even knows they need to make a claim.

We monitor data sources to detect insurable events, and integrate with partners to make payments totally frictionless. We create captivating user experiences that guide and educate the policy holder through the process, before and after a claim.

Our products are live across Europe, with many more rolling out in 2025- so we need somebody experienced in Java, Terraform and AWS to help us support and scale our services. Apart from these, we work with Github, Github actions, Postgres, MySQL running a microservice architecture- so knowledge of those is useful.

We are a small, founder-led team. You will work directly with the founding CTO from day 1. We're looking for self-motivated candidates who take pride in their work.

Our interview process is straightforward:

• Take home task: You will submit a task through github. Candidates typically complete this task within an hour or two.
• Presentation: You will present your challenge to our interview panel and have an opportunity to tell us a little about yourself and why you would make a great addition to the Exante team.

Requirements:

• In depth knowledge and experience of Java + Maven + Springboot
• Experience with authentication, (OICD with Keycloak ideally)
• Git, github, github actions
• Previous experience working with REST APIs, openAPI, swagger
• Strong knowledge of MySQL and/or Postgres.
• Previous experience with AWS and Terraform (ideally with AWS ECR, ECS, Batch.)
• Experience with Docker and containerized services.

Duties:

• Maintaining existing platform and APIs
• Development of new APIs, services and features supporting our existing and new products.
• Creating functional, well tested, reusable code.
• Contributing to new Exante knowledgebase, working closely with our designers, engineers and executive team.
• Managing deployments of test, uat, and production applications.
• Understanding and contributing to the Exante products and deliverables as a whole.
• Contributing to the Exante team on a professional and social level.
