Senior Manager - Information Security & Data Governance

Overview:

We are working with a leading global management consultancy to recruit an experienced Information Security & Data Governance Consultant. This strategic role will be pivotal in supporting clients across various industries to establish and enhance their data governance and information security frameworks. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in data governance, data protection, and risk management, ensuring that clients’ data is secure, compliant, and well-governed. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and advising on comprehensive data management strategies to enhance data quality, security, and compliance across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Governance:

• Lead the design and implementation of data governance frameworks and policies aligned with industry best practices.
• Establish and manage data stewardship programmes to ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across the organisation.
• Oversee data management processes, including data classification, lineage, and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with business units to maintain an effective data governance operating model, ensuring clear accountability and oversight.

Information Security:

• Work with stakeholders to identify, assess, and mitigate data security risks across the organisation.
• Develop, implement, and maintain information security policies, procedures, and incident response protocols.
• Ensure compliance with relevant information security regulations and standards, such as ISO 27001, NIST, and other frameworks.
• Monitor and report on security incidents and work with teams to resolve and improve security posture.

Data Protection:

• Advise clients on data protection laws and privacy regulations such as GDPR, and other relevant frameworks.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and support the implementation of necessary mitigation measures.
• Develop and implement data protection strategies, including data retention, breach management, and access controls.
• Work alongside legal, compliance, and IT teams to ensure adherence to data protection policies and regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, legal, compliance, and business units, to drive data governance and security initiatives.
• Provide expert advice to senior leadership, offering strategic insights on data governance, security, and protection matters.
• Lead the development of training programmes to ensure alignment with data governance and protection policies across the organisation.

Skills and Experience:

• 4+ years of experience in data governance, data protection, and information security.
• Strong understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and best practices in data protection.
• Experience in designing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and compliance processes.
• Knowledge of information security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST) and data risk management methodologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to deliver practical and actionable recommendations.
• Certifications in data protection, cloud security, or information security (CISSP, ISO 27001, etc.) are highly desirable.
