Job Summary:
The Senior Estimation and Tendering Manager leads the estimation and tendering processes for large-scale construction projects. This role ensures accurate cost estimations, develops competitive proposals, and drives strategies to secure new projects. The Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality bids that align with client requirements and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimation Management:
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overheads.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and scope documents to identify cost drivers and risks.
- Ensure all estimations are compliant with client requirements and industry standards.
- Review and validate estimates prepared by team members to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
Tendering and Proposal Management:
- Manage the entire tendering process, including pre-qualification, bid preparation, and submission.
- Develop comprehensive tender documents and proposals, ensuring clarity and alignment with client expectations.
- Coordinate with internal departments (procurement, engineering, project management) to gather required inputs for tenders.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors during the tender process to address queries and obtain clarifications.
Strategic Planning and Analysis:
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends and opportunities in the construction industry.
- Develop tendering strategies to maximize the organization's success rate while maintaining profitability.
- Prepare cost and technical comparisons for various tender options and recommend the most viable solutions.
Team Leadership:
- Mentor and guide a team of estimators and tendering professionals to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Assign tasks and monitor team performance to meet deadlines and deliverables.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare detailed reports on tender outcomes, cost analyses, and project feasibility.
- Present cost estimates and tender strategies to senior management for approval.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure ongoing collaboration and future opportunities.
Qualifications Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CCP) is an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in estimation and tendering, with at least 5 years in a senior role.
- Proven track record of successfully leading tendering processes for large-scale construction projects.
Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of estimation software and tools (e.g., Primavera, AutoCAD, CCS Candy, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- In-depth understanding of construction methodologies, contracts, and industry standards.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
