Network Security Architect

Our client is seeking an experienced Network Security Architect to join their Security Services Team.

The Network Security Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust network security architecture, ensuring that cybersecurity measures are integrated into all IT projects. This role demands a strong technical background in cybersecurity and network security management, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities and Duties

Network Security Architecture:

• Develop and implement comprehensive architectures, strategies, and roadmaps for the organisation’s network security infrastructure.

Network Design:

• Act as the primary Network Security Architect, defining architectures and rulesets for secure network environments, including firewalls such as Palo Alto.
• Create High-Level Designs, Low-Level Designs, and Change Requests.
• Oversee and implement network security solutions.

Project Collaboration:

• Collaborate with project managers, network engineers, system administrators, and developers to ensure network security requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.

Incident Response Planning:

• Develop technical incident response plans that outline procedures and protocols for cybersecurity incidents, including identifying threats, assessing risks, and determining actions.

Cybersecurity Incident Management:

• Serve as part of the response panel for major cybersecurity incidents, working to contain, mitigate, and restore operations. This role may require on-call availability during critical incidents.

Continuous Improvement:

• Monitor and improve network security capabilities by staying updated on emerging threats, technologies, and best practices.
• Conduct research, attend conferences, and engage with other professionals in the field.

Support Security Services:

• Act as a subject matter expert on network security, providing guidance to the Security Services function.
• Mentor junior staff and deputise for similar roles during leave periods.

Operational Oversight:

• Oversee operational activities conducted by internal and third-party engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices.
• Participate in the CAB approval process and proactively assess changes in the operating environment.

Security Remediation:

• Conduct bi-annual rule assessments on the network security infrastructure.
• Develop technical responses to penetration tests, security assessments, and vulnerability scan findings.

Experience and Competencies

• Proven experience in leading network security architecture.
• Expertise with Palo Alto firewalls.
• Experience in network security architectures within hybrid cloud (Azure) environments.
• Strong understanding of security processes and services.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Qualifications and Certifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications in network security (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco, Fortinet).
• Additional cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP).
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in network security architecture.
• Strong technical background in cybersecurity.
• Experience working with third-party vendors.
