Chief Information Security Officer

Our client is multinational technology company based in the Netherlands. They are looking for an experienced Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement the organization's cybersecurity strategy aligned with business goals.
• Establish and lead the information security governance framework to monitor and manage risks.
• Act as a key advisor to the executive team on emerging cybersecurity threats and trends.

Risk Management and Compliance

• Identify, assess, and mitigate information security risks.
• Ensure compliance with Dutch and European regulations, including GDPR, NIS2 Directive, ISO 27001, and other applicable standards.
• Oversee audits and certifications, ensuring adherence to internal and external security requirements.

Operational Oversight

• Lead the cybersecurity team in daily operations, incident management, and threat detection and response.
• Manage security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption protocols.
• Establish business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including IT, legal, and compliance teams, to integrate security measures into business operations.
• Build relationships with external regulators, partners, and third-party vendors to ensure a secure ecosystem.

Awareness and Training

• Develop and implement security awareness programs across the organization.
• Provide training for employees and stakeholders on cybersecurity best practices.

Requirements:

• Must be based in the Netherlands
• This is an English speaking role - professional level of English is required
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Certifications such as CISM, CISSP, CISA, or equivalent are highly preferred.
• At least 8 years of experience in information security, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing cybersecurity strategies and frameworks.
• In-depth knowledge of Dutch and EU cybersecurity regulations and standards.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and COBIT.
• Strong understanding of emerging technologies and associated risks (e.g., AI, IoT).
• Excellent leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and drive cultural change.
• Ability to communicate complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
