The Story
Ever wanted to teleport? Well, Phoria's not quite there yet, but they're pushing the boundaries of reality in ways that'll make your head spin (in a good way). This very successful and smart Melbourne-based crew is on a mission to transform human experiences through mind-bending XR tech.
Phoria aims to empower anyone with the ability to experience a physical space in a digital world. Think 3D, 360 video, holographic, interactive, experiential, augmented, virtual, and mixed reality technologies. They're the masterminds behind digital twins, 360 video, and AR experiences that make you question what's real. With big-name clients like Meta, Google, and the United Nations, they're not just playing in the sandpit—they're building entire digital worlds.
CAPTUR3D, one of PHORIA's products, is a SaaS platform that empowers Matterport Service Providers (MSPs) with a comprehensive toolset to enhance the value of digital twins and drive business growth. Phoria achieves this by providing cost-effective solutions such as floor plan creation and virtual tour staging, as well as advanced capabilities like augmented reality and AI-generated content.
Now, Phoria is expanding its team and developing a new mobile app for CAPTUR3D, offering a lucky Product Designer the opportunity to be part of this exciting next chapter!
The Role
As Phoria’s new Product Designer, you'll be the go-to creative mind behind their shiny new mobile app. We're talking about ground-up design, from UX research to visual identity. You'll be crafting and enhancing intuitive interfaces for their well-loved CAPTUR3D platform that their users will LOVE! You’ll pretty much be ALL about enhancing the user experience.
You will work closely with Phoria’s talented product managers, developers, marketing team, other designers and third parties to ensure that their product meets the needs of their customers and stays at the forefront of innovation.
What you’ll be doing day to day:
- Leading the charge on designing and improving the interface and experience of Phoria’s new mobile app for their CAPTUR3D Platform to enhance the user experience (launching July/August – exciting times!). This includes UX research, UX testing, Visual Identity and all standard design components.
- Designing flows and experiences that simplify complex actions to usable interfaces
- Translating user needs and stakeholder requirements into both low and high-fidelity visual concepts and prototypes
- Conducting user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and iterate on designs
- Developing wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs to communicate design solutions
- Collaborating with product managers, developers, and other designers to develop and maintain design systems, user flows, and design patterns that ensure consistency and ease of use across our product suite
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in design and user experience
- Looking to continuously improve Phoria’s products' usability and accessibility
- Creating marketing materials for the platform. This includes digital ads, PDFs, presentations and print material.
What You Bring To The Role
- Demonstrable commercial experience in a UX/product design role
- Proven experience designing for mobile
- A portfolio that makes other designers look over their shoulders!
- Expertise in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite
- The ability to juggle and maintain knowledge on multiple projects and tasks across different teams
- A knack for translating user needs into beautiful and functional designs
- Experience conducting user research and usability testing. This includes reviewing usage data and implementing changes.
- Knowledge of user-centred design principles and ability to apply them to design solutions
- The confidence to pitch ideas and sway the roadmap (Phoria like a bit of healthy rebellion)
What's In It For You?
At Phoria, they’re not just building apps – they're crafting the future.
🤳 You'll be working with cutting-edge tech that'll make your friends think you're living in 2050.
🌱 Career / Personal Growth - In this role, you’ll have the chance to build and lead a mobile app from the ground up and work with reputable external third parties. You’ll be in it from the beginning, so it will suit someone on the cusp of moving into a senior role who’s excited by the idea of getting stuck right in and taking on responsibility.
💪 The Phoria team is small but mighty, with the kind of retention rates that make other startups jealous. And did we mention that the team are just delightful people? Yep. That too.
🤖 We're talking AR, VR, ML, and AI – basically all the cool acronyms
☺️ Flexible working style. Work from home in your pj’s and enjoy onsite/in the office days on Thursdays for what Phoria affectionately calls "Capture Day"
✨ Working with the likes of Google, Meta, Netflix, United Nations. Need we say more?
