Embedded Software Engineer – Smart Home Automation - Antwerp

Position Overview:

I am seeking a highly skilled and motivated Embedded Software Engineer to join my client's team in the smart home automation industry.

In this role, you will be instrumental in developing, optimizing, and maintaining embedded software solutions that power their next-generation smart home products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and test embedded software for smart home devices such as thermostats, lighting systems, security cameras, and smart locks.
• Write efficient and reliable firmware for microcontrollers and SoCs using C, C++, or other relevant programming languages.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration between software and hardware components.
• Optimize system performance, power consumption, and memory usage.
• Implement communication protocols such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Thread for device connectivity.
• Develop and maintain secure and robust communication channels between devices and cloud platforms.
• Use debugging tools and techniques to identify and resolve firmware and system-level issues.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UX designers, and cloud engineers, to deliver user-centric solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in embedded software development
• Proven track record of delivering production-quality firmware for consumer electronics.
• Proficiency in C, C++, and assembly languages for embedded systems.
• Strong understanding of RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS) and bare-metal programming.
• Experience with embedded development tools, debugging techniques, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge on WebRTC is a plus
• Knowledge on SIP is a plus
