We are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Data Cleansing Specialist to support one of our clients in the financial sector, in their efforts to enhance data quality and operational efficiency, and to reduce data deficiencies. This onsite role requires expertise in data management, familiarity with the bank's systems and data models, and proficiency in SQL and Python.
What you will do:
The Data Cleansing Specialist will work directly with the client’s teams to improve the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of their data. This involves leveraging understanding of the bank's systems and data structures to identify and resolve inconsistencies, ensuring data alignment with business needs.

Your tasks include:
- Data Cleansing and Preparation:
- Perform data cleansing activities on various data sources to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Identify and rectify data quality issues, including duplicates, missing values, and inconsistencies.
- Standardise data formats and structures across different datasets.
- SQL Query Development:
- Develop and execute SQL statements to uncover data quality discrepancies.
- Write complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyse data from multiple databases.
- Optimise SQL queries for performance and efficiency.
- Data Quality Assessment:
- Conduct thorough data quality assessments to identify patterns and root causes of data issues.
- Implement data quality metrics and dashboards to monitor ongoing data quality.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data quality rules and standards.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Document data cleansing processes, methodologies, and findings in a clear and detailed manner.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on data quality issues and remediation efforts.
- Maintain accurate records of data cleansing activities and outcomes.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with data owners, business analysts, and IT teams to understand data requirements and issues.
- Communicate data quality findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Provide training and support to team members on data cleansing best practices and SQL usage.
Our requirements:
- Proficiency in SQL and Python and experience with SQL-based data manipulation and analysis.
- Strong understanding of data quality principles and data cleansing techniques.
- Experience with data profiling and data quality assessment tools.
- In-depth understanding of core systems and data models (banking or financial services experience is a strong advantage).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- English and German (preferred) language proficiency
- Attention to Detail: The role requires a high level of attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Location: Willingness and ability to work onsite in a fast-paced environment in the Zurich area.
