CDC Product Designer

de Bijenkorf
Netherlands · Full-time · Entry

If you live in the Netherlands, you have likely visited one of de Bijenkorf’s department stores. You’ll know that we take customer service seriously, ensuring every visitor feels special while shopping with us. At de Bijenkorf’s e-commerce department, we strive to translate this magical and unique in-store experience into the digital shopping journey. Will you join our Product Design team to help us achieve this vision?

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a Product Designer to join our multidisciplinary Customer Data and Communication (CDC) squad. This team focuses on the "My Account" area of the de Bijenkorf website and everything surrounding it. How do we create a 360° view of our customers, how do we provide personalized content based on what we know from our customer data, how to increase sign-up and sign-in rates are some of the challenges this squad is working on. You will use your research and design skills to tackle these challenges, crafting meaningful and user-friendly experiences for our customers.

In your role, you will work in close collaboration with the product owner, developers, and other stakeholders in setting the strategic direction for your domain of the product, turn chaos into patterns using quantitative and qualitative insights, and create both meaningful and beautiful interfaces to enable our customers in achieving their goals on our website. You will also be aligning with our App Designer, to make sure there is a cohesive experience between web and app. Our ideal candidate is skilled at leading the end-to-end design process, from research to interaction, visual, and motion design.

It’s important to note that a key focus for this year is migrating from one CMS platform to another. Therefore, significant part of your work will involve streamlining design system components, creating templates, coordinating with backend and frontend developers about implementation, aligning with stakeholders and documenting your work according to established guidelines.

How do you make our team complete?

We’d love to hear from you if you believe you’d be a great fit for our team and recognize yourself in the following:

  • You have experience in UX/UI design, with a portfolio showcasing high-quality web and/or app designs.
  • You are proficient in Figma and can create high-quality, pixel-perfect designs and mockups that adhere to brand and design system guidelines.
  • You can map requirements and solve complex information architecture problems through user flow diagrams, wireflows, and detailed interaction design.
  • You are knowledgeable about qualitative user research methods, such as interviews, card-sorting, diary studies, and usability testing.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling you to justify design decisions, bring others along in the problem-solving process, and clearly communicate ideas.
  • You can balance the bigger picture during discovery phases with attention to detail during delivery.
  • You are familiar with agile methodologies and have experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • You’re a team player who can also work independently.
  • You are fluent in English and have at least a B1 level of Dutch.
  • Bonus: Experience working on e-commerce websites or apps.

What do we offer:

  • 30 vacation days;
  • Personal performance & profit sharing bonuses;
  • Contribution towards your pension;
  • Vitality budget;
  • An employee discount on products purchased from de Bijenkorf.
