Software Engineer

Our client, a well-funded start-up trading firm who are part of a larger family office, are hiring for a software engineer. Even though they may be considered a start-up they have a wealth of experience within the trading industry and have been trading for a number of years and as a result of increasing trading volume are looking to expand their software engineering team.

They’re all about using a data-driven, tech-focused approach to tackle trading challenges and innovate. The company specialises in trading derivatives across multiple asset classes, mainly in the US markets and work US hours.

The Role

They’re looking for a Software Engineer with 2+ years of experience to join their growing team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in building and improving their pre-existing trading system and also working on a variety of certifications to allow them to be onboarded as a CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) partner/affiliate.

You’ll work directly with an experienced team lead who has worked for a tier 1 proprietary trading firm.

Here’s what you’ll be working with:

• Tech Stack: The current focus is on Python, but the team is moving towards C++ and Rust to boost performance.
• Cloud Solutions: You’ll be involved in building and managing cloud environments using tools like Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Teamwork: It’s a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your ideas and contributions will truly matter.

What They’re Looking For:

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of Python or C++ and ideally some experience (or interest) in Rust.
• Hands-on experience with trading systems or exchange onboarding.
• Familiarity with cloud tools like Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Experience:
• 2+ years of hands-on technical software engineering experience, preferably in trading or a related industry such as gambling, online banking or gaming.
• A passion for building systems with clean, well-thought-out code.

• Location: Amsterdam
• There’s flexibility to work remotely initially, but on-site collaboration (5 days a week) will be required after the move.

• Compensation: Six figures total compensation
