Back End Developer

Job Overview:

Our leading financial services client is seeking an experienced Web Application Back-End Developer to join their team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in enhancing and supporting the Integrated Developer Platform (IDP), which is key to the clients objective of accelerating change velocity across its operations. This is a Hybrid daily rate contract role based in Dublin.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Existing Systems: Maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot existing Groovy scripts that are utilized within Jira and Confluence to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Automation Development: Design, develop, and implement new automation solutions based on specific customer requirements within the existing platform framework, ensuring scalability and robustness.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify, propose, and drive improvements to the current automation framework to enhance efficiency, reliability, and functionality.
• Deployment Management: Oversee and manage the deployment of changes to production environments, ensuring minimal service disruption, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with change management processes.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Programming Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Java or Groovy, with demonstrable skills at an intermediate level or above.
• Web Development Expertise: Experience in front-end web technologies including JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and XML.
• API Knowledge: Solid understanding of HTTP protocol and REST API principles, with experience in developing and consuming RESTful services.
• Database Skills: Strong SQL skills for database management, querying, and optimization tasks.
• Technical Concepts: Familiarity with concepts related to multithreaded applications, synchronous/asynchronous connections, performance code optimization, and design patterns.

Desirable Skills:

• Jira/Confluence/BitBucket Experience: Practical experience in using and automating processes within Jira, Confluence, and BitBucket, particularly with Groovy scripting.

• Effective team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
