Network Support Technician

Scope of Work:

1. Rack and Stack:

• Objective: Physical installation and configuration of networking devices within server racks to ensure optimal space utilization and device functionality.
• Activities:
• Mounting routers, switches, and servers into server racks using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Securing the equipment within racks to prevent movement or damage.
• Properly connecting power supplies and grounding systems to all devices.
• Testing the alignment and ensuring proper airflow around the installed equipment.
• Labeling and documenting each device and connection for future maintenance and upgrades.

2. Cabling:

• Objective: Installing network cables (Ethernet) between devices to ensure a stable and reliable data transmission path.
• Activities:
• Running and securing Ethernet cables from routers, switches, and servers to end-user devices or other network equipment.
• Organizing cables neatly using cable management solutions like trays, conduits, or racks to minimize cross-talk and interference.
• Ensuring that cable pathways are compliant with industry standards (TIA/EIA).
• Testing all installed cables to ensure they are connected properly with no faults.
• Troubleshooting and repairing any cable connectivity issues.

3. Network Configuration and Testing:

• Objective: Configuration of network devices such as routers and switches to establish proper communication between devices and ensure network functionality.
• Activities:
• Configuring routers and switches to set up VLANs, routing, IP addresses, and other networking protocols as per project requirements.
• Running network performance tests to ensure all devices and connections are functioning properly.
• Identifying any misconfigurations and making necessary adjustments.
• Documenting all configurations and network topologies.

4. Documentation:

• Objective: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for all network-related setups, configurations, and physical installation.
• Activities:
• Documenting each step of the installation, cabling process, and network configurations.
• Keeping records of equipment installed, cabling layout, and troubleshooting performed.
• Preparing detailed records for future maintenance and upgrades.

5. End of Project Reporting:

• Delivering a final report summarizing the work done, device configurations, cabling setups, and overall network health.

• Start Date: 2nd Week of January
• Duration: 4 to 6 weeks

Job Type:

• Contract/Temporary (Engasjement)

Experience:

• Minimum 2 Years of experience as a Network Engineer.
• Must hold CCNA Certification or equivalent practical experience.
