Back End Developer (Python)

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Backend Developer to contribute to the development of our backend infrastructure and ensure seamless integration with third-party systems.

Key Responsibilities

Core System Development:

• Contribute to the development and integration of our core system, ensuring the reliable storage and processing of patient data.
• Connect our backend with other products, driving interoperability across healthcare solutions.

Team Collaboration:

• Collaborate closely with system architects, frontend developers, QA, DevOps, and interoperability teams to convert design specs into robust and maintainable backend code.
• Participate in code reviews and team discussions, ensuring best practices are followed.

3rd-Party Integrations:

• Assist in smooth integration with external systems, ensuring data consistency and security across various platforms.

API Design & Implementation:

• Implement and help design scalable REST, WebSocket, and FHIR APIs that enable cutting-edge healthcare workflows.

Software Documentation:

• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of backend software documentation, from design specs to code documentation, ensuring traceability and clarity across the development lifecycle.

Quality Assurance:

• Uphold the highest standards of product quality by following development best practices such as unit testing, specification reviews, and rigorous code reviews.

Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of industry experience as a software engineer, with proven end-to-end development experience.
• Strong ability to balance deadlines and maintainable code.
• Proficient in Python, with knowledge of Java, Groovy, and ideally Django and machine learning libraries.
• Strong understanding of API development, especially REST and FHIR.
• Experience working in agile environments and collaborating across departments.
• Strong communication skills in English (German is a plus).

Preferred Experience:

• Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with HL7 and FHIR protocols.
• Familiarity with high-throughput and high-confidentiality systems, with knowledge of authentication, authorization, data consistency, and system failover.
• Experience in a regulated field like medical devices, aerospace, or automotive, ideally within healthcare IT or medical systems.
