Backend Engineer

We are hiring a Backend Software Engineer with a strong background in backend software development, focusing on building and optimizing solutions that support a diverse range of applications and services. As a Mid-level Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust, stable, and scalable backend systems.

Candidates need to already be based in London.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a

related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Experience: 3+ years in software engineering, specifically in backend

development and solutions.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, and

JavaScript.

• Strong knowledge of API development and management, including designing

and maintaining highly-available API endpoints (e.g., RESTful, GraphQL, gRPC)

to support web applications.

• Experience with cloud platforms, including services and database management.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Strong understanding of system design, database schema design, and data

modeling.

Extra Points for you if you have:

• Experience with building scalable, high-reliability, or data-intensive backend systems.
• Exposure to both NoSQL and SQL database technologies such as DynamoDB,

MongoDB, PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora.

• Experience working with containers and container orchestration systems (Docker, ECS,

EKS).

• Experience in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Familiarity with modern authentication schemes such as OAuth, JWTs, or cookies.
• Experience with monitoring tools (DataDog, Graphite, Grafana, Prometheus).
• Experience managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Experience working in fast-paced startup environments, contributing to rapid

development and delivery-driven projects.
