Segritude Games was established in May 2023. We are a passionate start-up game development company committed to creating unique, immersive gaming experiences. Our growing team brings together diverse skills and expertise, working collaboratively to develop games that stand out in the industry.

As a start-up, we offer a flexible contract agreement requiring a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week. You will use our Clock-in portal on Discord to record your hours. We are actively pursuing investment and funding opportunities to support and compensate our team based on revenue from sales or secured funding. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a promising start-up with significant growth potential.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:


This is a contract, remote role for a Mid-Level Gameplay Programmer at Segritude Games. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and refining network-replicated gameplay mechanics, including player controls, AI behaviour, and game interactions. You will collaborate closely with designers and other developers to bring the game’s mechanics to life and ensure smooth integration with the overall design and functionality.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Collaborate with game designers to understand the multiplayer gameplay requirements and translate them into technical specifications and efficient code.
  • Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance multiplayer systems, including networking, synchronization, and server-side logic.
  • Implement gameplay mechanics, player interactions, and game rules for seamless multiplayer experiences.
  •  Identify and resolve networking issues, latency problems, and other multiplayer-related challenges to ensure a smooth online experience for players.
  • Work closely with the game design team to prototype and iterate on multiplayer features, gathering feedback and implementing improvements.
  • Collaborate with other programmers and technical designers to integrate gameplay features into the overall game architecture.
  • Conduct thorough testing of multiplayer systems and debug any issues or bugs that arise during development.
  • Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and maintain code quality and best practices.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Proven experience as a Gameplay Programmer in the gaming industry.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and C#.
  • Experience working with game engines, preferably Unreal Engine.
  • A strong understanding of gameplay mechanics and systems design.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • A passion for games and game development.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience with AI development and pathfinding.
  • Knowledge of multiplayer networking and server-client architecture.
  • Familiarity with gameplay optimisation techniques.
  • Experience with physics and animation integration.
  • Previous experience working on game-related projects or titles.
