Chief Technology Officer

Role Summary:

The CTO/Technical Delivery Director will lead Nord Group's technical operations in Finland, focusing on delivering complex programs of work in digital banking. You will manage a team of skilled software developers, ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, and build strong client relationships while collaborating closely with the CEO. The ideal candidate will possess extensive banking and financial markets experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a strategic mindset to drive the growth of our Finland operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

• Oversee and manage all aspects of Nord Group’s Finland-based technical delivery operations.
• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of software developers, architects, and delivery managers.
• Drive the successful delivery of digital banking solutions, ensuring alignment with client expectations and industry best practices.

Program Delivery

• Take ownership of program delivery timelines, deliverables, and budgets, ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards.
• Develop and implement robust delivery methodologies, including agile and waterfall approaches as appropriate.
• Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies to stakeholders.

Strategic Growth

• Play a key role in establishing and scaling Nord Group’s presence in Finland, including building local teams and fostering a strong organizational culture.
• Identify new business opportunities and collaborate with the CEO to develop strategic plans for growth.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients in the banking and financial markets sector.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering innovative solutions and ensuring client satisfaction.
• Work closely with Nord Group’s CEO, Louis, to align technical delivery with overall business objectives.

Commercial Awareness

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of commercial drivers and financial considerations in technical delivery.
• Ensure cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
• Provide input into pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and revenue forecasting.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

• Proven experience in a senior delivery role within the banking and financial markets sector.
• Strong background in delivering digital banking solutions and managing large-scale software development teams.
• Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.
• Deep understanding of banking technology stacks, fintech trends, and digital transformation in financial services.
• Strong project management skills, including experience with agile and waterfall methodologies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Commercial acumen with experience in budget management and strategic planning.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field or an MBA.
• Experience working in a consultancy or technology solutions provider environment.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in the financial sector.
• Proficiency in Finnish or other Nordic languages is a plus.
