Job Description

We’re excited to offer an opportunity to join Nine’s Commerce team as a Junior Data Analyst on a 9-month fixed-term contract to cover paternity leave. This is an excellent chance to gain valuable experience working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supporting our Advertising Sales division.

The Commerce team plays a pivotal role within Nine’s Advertising Sales division, providing essential operational support to the Sales team by defining business goals and offering data-driven insights. As a Junior Data Analyst, you will collaborate across teams and work with a wide range of internal stakeholders to deliver key insights, reporting, and commercial strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Centralise datasets across Nine’s business for reporting, forecasting, and modelling purposes.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and the Analytics team to understand, manipulate, and analyse large datasets.
  • Be the go-to expert for SQL and Python queries, upskilling and educating the broader Commerce team.
  • Provide reporting and insights on yield, inventory, and revenue performance, supporting commercial product decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimise sales processes, product performance reporting, and forecasting methodologies.
  • Analyse market trends and competitor landscapes to identify growth opportunities.
  • Support the operational design of new products, ensuring efficient workflows, sales processes, and inventory management.
  • Maintain and improve existing system processes and tools.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as required.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and Python, with the ability to write queries and manage large datasets.
  • Strong experience with spreadsheets (Excel), including functions, pivot tables, and data manipulation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a creative, organised approach to challenges.
  • Excellent numerical skills and the ability to draw actionable insights from data.
  • Clear communication skills for conveying technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Interest in building commercial acumen and using data to inform business decisions.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) is advantageous.
  • Media industry experience is a plus but not essential.
