Job Title: Mobile App Developer

Type: Contract Position

Working Hours: Mondays - Fridays 9:00am - 5:00pm Central European Time Zone

Compensation: USD $3,000 - $3,400/month (Salary based on assessment)

In 2019, the World Health Organization elevated the global concern of burnout, naming burnout: “a syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.” 

Project Bonsai is a stealth-mode startup with a mission to empower people to sustainably achieve their full potential, by eliminating the risks of stress and burnout. Project Bonsai is founded by an entrepreneur in the mobile app space, who since burning out in 2020 has given talks on burnout, developed a wealth of educational materials, coached close to 100 people through burnout recovery, and written a book on burnout.

The team at Project Bonsai currently includes a product owner, product designer and 2 psychologists, and we are now seeking a contract, mid-to-senior level Full Stack Software Engineer to own the development of a mobile application for the iOS and Android platforms. The app will deliver educational content and burnout recovery recommendations, personalized through user surveys and regular check-ins. As a Full Stack Engineer, you will be responsible for creating both the front-end and back-end, working closely with our designer and product owner to deliver a beta version of the app within 6 months.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain both the front and back end of the mobile app.
• Develop a content library system for educational material and burnout recovery resources.
• Implement a content schema and system capable of personalizing the content based on user behavior and input from onboarding surveys and ongoing check-ins.
• Collaborate with a product designer to create and iterate on UX/UI.
• Lead the app’s architecture, ensuring scalability and performance.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of software development experience, with expertise in mobile app development.
• Experience in developing and deploying apps to both iOS and Android App Stores.
• Strong knowledge of either native programming languages (e.g. Swift, Java) OR cross-platform programming languages (i.e. Flutter, React Native)
• Proficiency in Python, Node.js, or Firebase for back-end development.
• Ability to work autonomously, making architectural and technical decisions.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
