The Senior Contracts/Commercial Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of contract management across multiple projects, from tendering through to contract completion. This includes supervising claims, dispute resolution, and ensuring compliance with contract terms, while proactively mitigating risks and supporting project teams to achieve successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Contractual Oversight: Manage contracts across multiple project sites, ensuring compliance with contractual terms, conditions, and deliverables for major infrastructure projects.
Tender and Contract Review: Review and interpret tender documents, contracts, and project scope of works to ensure that obligations and liabilities are clearly identified and addressed.
Negotiation and Drafting: Oversee the negotiation and drafting of contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders standard terms, ensuring alignment with project goals and company policies.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate contractual risks across project sites, minimizing exposure to disputes or liabilities.
Claims and Variations Management: Supervise the preparation, submission, and negotiation of claims, variations, and extensions of time, to safeguard the company’s interests.
Change Order Management: Oversee the administration of change orders, ensuring timely approvals and alignment with project budgets and timelines.
Contractual Compliance: Ensure that all site-based operations comply with contractual obligations, industry standards, local regulations and company policies and procedures, including obtaining necessary approvals.
Dispute Resolution: Lead the resolution of contractual disputes in collaboration with other stakeholders, ensuring favorable outcomes and minimizing project disruptions.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate closely with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients to ensure seamless communication and resolution of contractual matters.
Team Leadership: Provide direction and support to site-based contracts teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in contract management practices.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Chartered status or equivalent certification (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB, or CIArb) is highly desirable.
• 15+ years of experience in contracts/commercial management, with a proven track record on large-scale, multi-project construction sites.
• Extensive experience with major roads, infrastructure, and drainage projects is essential.
• Experience working with Public Works Authority (PWA/Ashghal) is a distinct advantage.
• Proficiency in English is required, with Arabic language considered a significant plus.
