FPGA development engineer

We have an excellent FPGA and software development team of experienced professionals, but we are eagerly looking for new colleagues to join us and help us make some awesome high-tech stuff! Backlog is full for years to come, and we are continuously growing our development teams.

We are looking for to strengthen our team with a new FPGA development engineer. We are open to consider different expertise levels and tailor the tasks accordingly. Therefore, we appreciate if you accompany your application with a motivation letter where you give us clear insight on what you can do, would like to do and learn, and which kind of role and responsibilities you would be interested in.

Your role

As part of a development team, your work spans from specification, implementation, and simulation of FPGA designs to integration, testing, and troubleshooting in laboratory together with other experts.

You will work closely with other teams (RF, HW, testing) to figure out what the design needs to do and how the full system should work. You get to work with absolutely cutting-edge technologies, and are guaranteed to learn something new along the way!

So, what do you need to bring to the table:

• Experience in VHDL development language
• Experience in FPGA simulators like Modelsim or Questa
• Knowledge of and experience in FPGA design flow and testing
• Experience in Xilinx and/or Altera FPGAs and development tools like Vivado or Quartus
• You are a team player and active collaborator, with passion to make great things happen with a team.
• Fluent Finnish and English (spoken and written)
  
  
  

Additional know-how that is greatly appreciated but individual bullets are not blockers:

• Digital signal processing, RF receiver architecture, or radar application know-how
• Knowledge of hardware interfaces and communication protocols
• C/C++/python/other programming skills
• Familiarity with tools like JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
  
  
  

In this job, some of your tasks have a connection to defense secrecy. Therefore, a drug test and approved security clearance in accordance with the Finnish Security Clearance act 726/2014 is required for the selected applicant.

Since Saab is a global company, this role requires fluent communication (in English) with colleagues abroad, and may require some travelling (mainly short visits to Sweden occasionally).
