Introduction
We are seeking a Chief Designer / Product Manager to join our Smelting Product Group Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) and Ferroalloys (FA) in Espoo! In this role, you will act as Chief Engineer in dedicated projects, and you will also be responsible for your dedicated smelter products, product maintenance and continuous development related to your products.
In this position, you will report to Director, Product Group DRI & Ferroalloys.
Our team is mainly located in Espoo, however other locations in Finland can be considered. We are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. Please note that the position involves some traveling, and global assignments can be considered later in the commissioning phase of the projects.

What You’ll Do
- Act as Chief designer for own equipment and technology portfolio
- Identify gaps and generate new ideas and concepts for developing the technology
- In implementation projects, you will act as matrix leader of multiple designers
- Develop and maintain standardized and modularized solutions in our offering
- Ensuring that safety regulations, directives and standards are followed during the design, manufacturing, installation, operation, and maintenance.
- Responsible for Process/ technology/ Machinery safety (Safexpert) intelligence
- Responsible for engineering document management.
- Interact as a member of a team in cross-cultural market area, supply, process design, delivery, and other members in the delivery projects
- Participate in equipment installation supervision at site when needed
- You have a strong background in related Melting, Smelting and/or Sintering technologies
- You have a solid knowledge of melt shops and related equipment like electrodes, cooling elements, furnace structures, gas cleaning etc.
- In addition, you are familiar with melt shop design and 3D planning with SolidWorks, MicroStation, AutoCAD or other commonly used tools
- You understand sales and service functions in the technology area
- You can explore customer needs and translate them into product strategies and action plans
- You are comfortable working in a large, complex organization with a broad stakeholder base
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Knowledge of common engineering tools, SAP, Enovia, EDM, Meridian applications preferred
- Knowledge of FEM analysis
- You have more than 5 years of experience in the above-mentioned tasks
