Senior Frontend Developer

You work together with a team of skilled engineers and designers. Ranging from back-end developers, data engineers, UX-designers, DevOps, and QA engineers.

We are looking for someone who is dedicated, committed and seeking to deliver high-quality software. You will work in an agile way, have a great ability to collaborate with team members, and communicate with stakeholders.

As our ideal frontend developer, you have a profound understanding of component-based design patterns and you can apply the most fundamental programming principles. You have experience with reactive programming (observables) and we offer you the opportunity to develop and enhance your knowledge.

Key responsibilities:

• Concepting, designing, building, and maintaining our front-end application
• You ensure the quality and correctness of what you deliver with a test-driven development approach
• You coach and support other team members to reach the common sprint goals
• You strive for easier and effective ways to solve a challenge
• You evangelise and follow best-practice design patterns to keep solutions maintainable and testable

We bring together thinkers, content creators, and production experts, to make more possible – empowering brands to talk to their customers in the most relevant and rewarding way. We create marketing solutions for international clients, as Albert Heijn, Philips, BBC, and the UK Government. To achieve this, we work together with the headquarter of APS in the UK and teams across the rest of Europe. In The Netherlands, we work on three locations, with a team of approximately 160 employees. Group wide we have more than 1.000 employees.

About the team & product

You're going to work with a highly motivated and talented team on an exciting new (green field) product. The product is designed with scalability in mind and it's built with cutting-edge technology, like React/Next.js, Apollo GraphQL, NestJS, GoLang, Amazon Neptune, Apache Pulsar, Cloudflare Pages/Workers and Kubernetes. Within the team you'll work together with two other talented front-end developers, from which one full-stack. The team has a dedicated UI and UX designer and three experienced back-end developers. We regularly organise pizza/coding nights to explore new technologies, learn and have fun together!

Base Requirements

• Self-motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a team environment
• Analytically strong and good at solving problems
• Professional attitude towards our customers and colleagues
• Independent, confident, and at ease in a dynamic organisation
• Good sense of humour, innovative and a wide interest in new technologies
• College or University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (software engineering, artificial intelligence, etc.)

Essential Skills and Experience

• Expert knowledge of Javascript (ES2020) / Typescript
• Expert knowledge of React/Next.JS
• Deep knowledge SSR, ISR, SSG and server side components.
• Advanced state management and reactive programming (Mobx) principles
• Bundlers/builders like Webpack and Vite.
• TDD and test frameworks like Jest, Vitest and Cypress
• Design systems (Material design - MUI)
• GraphQL, REST and gRPC
• The obvious skills: HTML/CSS, Git, feeling for UI/UX

Experience with:

• Docker and Kubernetes
• Continuous- Integration and Delivery

Affinity with:

• Event-based and cloud-native systems (AWS)
• Configuration management (Ansible, Terraform)
