Responsibilities
- Set up, configure, and maintain game servers to support multiplayer gameplay.
- Monitor server performance and ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
- Configure network settings to ensure low-latency and stable connections for players.
- Implement load-balancing strategies to distribute traffic effectively.
- Protect servers from cyber threats such as DDoS attacks.
- Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy standards.
- Manage anti-cheat systems to maintain a fair gaming environment.
- Perform load testing to identify bottlenecks in server performance.
- Optimize server configurations to handle high player counts efficiently.
- Debug and resolve server crashes or connectivity issues in real-time.
- Design and manage player data storage systems with high efficiency and security.
- Maintain regular database backups and recovery plans.
- Coordinate with customer support teams to address server-related player issues.
- Provide technical documentation and training to internal teams as needed.
- Leverage content delivery networks (CDNs) for optimized game asset distribution.
- Set up monitoring tools to track server health and resource usage.
- Generate regular performance and incident reports for stakeholders.
- Research and implement new technologies to improve server performance and scalability.
- Identify opportunities to streamline server operations and reduce costs.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
1. Networking Knowledge
- TCP/IP and UDP Protocols: Understanding UDP, commonly used in multiplayer games, and TCP/IP for reliable data transfer.
- Port Management: Configuring server ports for proper accessibility.
- Firewall and Security: Implementing firewall rules to protect servers from DDoS attacks.
- Load Balancing: Ensuring stable traffic distribution across servers during high demand.
2. Game Server Management
- Operating Systems: Advanced knowledge of Linux (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS) and Windows Server.
- Experience in game server panels such as TCAdmin, Pterodactyl, vCenter, etc.
- Server setup and management for popular games such as Minecraft, CS:GO, Rust, ARK.
- Server Configuration: Optimizing configurations to meet game engine requirements.
- Containerization: Using tools like Docker and Kubernetes to containerize game servers.
3. Programming and Scripting
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in languages like C++, C#, Java, or Python, often used in game server development.
- Scripting: Automating tasks using Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- API Management: Managing integrations with game server APIs.
4. Database Management
- Database Types: Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and other relational or NoSQL databases.
- Data Storage and Optimization: Ensuring secure and efficient storage of player data.
- Backup and Recovery: Implementing effective database backup strategies.
- 5. Game Engine Expertise
- Game Engines: Familiarity with Unreal Engine, Unity, CryEngine, or proprietary game engines.
- Multiplayer Systems: Managing matchmaking, lobbies, and other multiplayer features.
6. Security
- DDoS Protection: Protecting servers from distributed denial-of-service attacks.
- Anti-Cheat Systems: Implementing server-side systems to detect and prevent cheating.
- Encryption: Using encryption protocols (e.g., TLS/SSL) to secure data transmission.
7. Performance Optimization
- Latency and Ping Management: Minimizing delay for smooth gameplay.
- Load Testing: Testing server performance under heavy traffic conditions.
- Optimized Coding: Creating configurations to reduce resource consumption.
8. Problem Solving and Debugging
- Log Analysis: Analyzing logs to identify and resolve errors.
- Monitoring and Alert Systems: Using tools like Prometheus and Grafana for real-time server monitoring.
- Error Management: Quickly addressing server crashes or bugs.
- 9. Cloud Computing
- CDN Usage: Leveraging content delivery networks to serve players from geographically closer servers.
- Scalability: Dynamically scaling server capacity to meet fluctuating player demands.
