About Us

Role Overview

As a Heat and Gas System Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the design, development, manufacturing and optimization of innovative fuel cell gas systems that meet the requirements of our products as well as comply with all relevant safety standards. This is a full-time on-site role where hands-on tasks should be backed by analysis and calculations. Your expertise will drive our company's advancements in clean energy technology and help shape a sustainable future. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to create fuel cell systems that meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop functional schematic diagrams (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams - P&IDs) for fuel cell/ electrolyser/ heat exchanger gas systems, ensuring alignment with customer specifications, industry standards, safety standards and operational needs.
  • Conduct fluid flow analysis and thermal system optimization to ensure system reliability, efficiency, and performance under varying conditions.
  • Select and size key components such as control valves, on/off valves, pressure valves, purge valves, heaters, filters, sub-zero systems, and gas pipes, adhering to performance criteria and safety requirements.
  • Select and size suitable pressure regulators and pressure accumulators to make the fuel cell system work and to ensure sufficient gas flow in various operating conditions. The selected candidate should be experienced in reading the data sheets of components and sizing them accordingly.
  • Use predictive modelling tools like Matlab/Simulink, openfoam and other simulation software to evaluate gas flow dynamics, pressure drops, heat exchange, and transient behaviour in the system.
  • Lead the design of complete fuel cell gas systems by integrating components like valves, gas line, pressure regulators, pressure relief valves, and accumulators including customer selection, sizing and integration.
  • Participate in the building and testing of the designed fuel cell gas systems.
  • Design and execute comprehensive test plans to validate system performance, durability, and safety under various operating conditions.
  • Conduct extensive gas system testing and analyze the test data to identify areas for improvement and implement design modifications to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
  •  Diagnose and resolve system-level issues that arise during testing of the gas system.
  • Utilize your experience and knowledge by providing specialized insights and solutions to relevant projects.

Essential Skills/Experience/Requirements

  • Bachelors or Master's in Piping Engineering, Fluid dynamics Engineering, Gas system Engineering, heat exchangers or a related field.
  • Experience working in the field of fuel cells is a bonus (PEMFC, SOFC, Alkaline fuel cell is desirable)
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/ Labview, simulink is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of at least one of these -  Fuel cells (Desirable), boilers, heat exchangers.
  • Ability to develop functional schematic diagrams and conduct relevant calculations
  • Hands-on skills of handling gas systems.
  • Ability to clearly present results, citing explanations
  • Creative problem solver, proactive and independent.
  • You value honesty and teamwork
  • Fluent in written & spoken English
  • Willingness to relocate to Tallinn, Estonia is a must.

Advantageous Skills/Experience/Requirements

  • Familiarity with fuel cell control systems and algorithms
  • Knowledge of fuel cells, electrolysers, heat exchangers, and boilers.
  • Experience with system integration and packaging
  • Have a keen interest in sustainable energy technologies
