Our NSW Government client is hiring for a highly capable Project Officer - Sustainability to join their organisation. This role is suited to someone who has a background in sustainable building design and development, construction materials, lifecycle analysis or similar. Experience with Life Cycle Assessments and building design/materials is preferred. The successful candidate will work in a close knit-team who are working on a large-scale sustainability initiative, working specifically on a Carbon rating tool.
Role Title: Project Officer - Sustainability
Contract Length: Till the 30th of January 2026.
Daily Pay: $550 - $600 + Super per day.
Location: Parramatta (2150)/WFH Hybrid
Role Requirements:
- Helping stakeholders throughout their rating process.
- Auditing ratings that are submitted to the program, to make sure they are accurate.
- Help Assessors with their continuous learning, as they use the tool.
- Answering technical queries and making rulings about atypical measurement methods that are requested by project teams, for buildings that are aiming to get a rating.
- Conducting research and helping with the development of future requirements for the tool, such as rules updates and developing a process for commitment agreements. This includes a lot of industry stakeholder engagement.
- Onboarding people who will become Assessors.
- Training the internal team, in areas such as how to audit ratings, and how to answer technical questions from users.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- A background in sustainable building design and development, construction materials, lifecycle analysis, or similar. Experience with both LCA and building design and materials is preferred.
- You have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Much of the role will involve collaborating with others and making things clear for others quickly. You'll need to build and maintain great relationships with key stakeholders.
- Project management skills and ability to plan and react to new information.
- Problem solving, with the ability to prioritise and focus on the most important issues.
- Confidence in engaging an audience, listening and understanding stakeholder needs.
- You can carry out research and analyse research results. You're a detailed thinker, you ask a lot of questions and enjoy getting into technical details.
