Back End Developer with SOLR

The client is a leading multi-brand technology solutions provider to business, government, education and healthcare customers in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.

Requirements:

Must Have:

Expertise in Search Engineering, Solr, Elastic, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Spark, and Jupyter Notebooks (or similar)

Proficiency in one of programming languages: Java, JavaScript, Python, Scala, and C#.

Understanding ranking algorithms in search systems

Familiarity with vector search and semantic search using embeddings.

Deep understanding of sharding, replication, and index optimization for large-scale systems.

Expertise in real-time indexing and updates with tools like Apache Solr and Elastic search.

Experience in designing and analyzing search logs to improve query performance.

Familiarity with Interleaving and A/B testing and search metrics like CTR, precision, recall, and MRR.

Familiarity with eComm, knowledge graphs, or specific domains where search relevancy matters.

Expertise in product recommendation systems (collaborative and content-based).

Experience with Azure or other cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP) to deploy search solutions.

Proficiency with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) for scalable search systems.

Strong grasp of Jupyter, Zeppelin, or similar for data exploration and search experimentation.

Expertise in Search Engineering Kafka, Azure, K8s

Expertise in integrating Kafka with search systems.

Experience with query parsing, tokenization, synonym handling, and stemming for improved relevance.

Knowledge of Search Standards & Protocols: Familiarity with OpenSearch APIs and interoperability standards.

Experience with Emerging Trends: Experience with vector and Graph databases and familiarity with search integrations with generative AI models.

Participating in Platform Modernization: Contribute to the evolution of our search platform by integrating cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, enhancing scalability and efficiency.

Engaging with Key Stakeholders: Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to understand their needs, gather feedback, and ensure alignment between search functionalities and business objectives.

Maintaining Technical Documentation: Develop and update comprehensive technical documentation, sharing best practices and innovative search solutions with the team to promote knowledge sharing and consistency.
