Staff Software Engineer - Cloud Backend

We are seeking experienced Staff Cloud Backend Engineers to design, build, and optimize backend services for our cloud-based applications. This role requires expertise in cloud-native architectures and scalable backend systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, technical discussions and deployment of scalable backend services and APIs.
• Architect and implement microservices and serverless solutions using languages like Go.
• Optimize performance, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure reliability.
• Implement security best practices, including encryption and secure API development.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of backend development experience.
• Experience with architecture, design, and development – must have experience of the whole life cycle of the product – ground up. Experience building event-driven microservices-based architecture – using Kafka or similar - knowing how to build a horizontally scalable distributed system.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Proficiency in backend programming languages (Go, Java, Scala, Rust).Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Strong fundamentals in database systems, SQL DB or No SQL DB - experience dealing with large volumes of data.
• Expertise in RESTful and GraphQL APIs.

Candidates must be based in Dublin for a hybrid role (3x times a week in the office).
