About The Role

We are seeking a Data Scientist to design, implement, and optimize pipelines utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI technologies. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both generative and non-generative machine learning techniques, with a strong focus on natural language processing (NLP). This role involves end-to-end development, including data processing, LLM fine-tuning, implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, and deploying AI agents.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist at 21.co Technologies, you will:

• Lead the development and deployment of pipelines leveraging LLMs and generative AI for advanced text-based applications, providing technical direction and mentoring team members.
• Design and implement RAG systems, integrating external knowledge sources with LLMs.
• Fine-tune and customize LLMs for specific use cases, ensuring optimal performance and adaptability.
• Process and prepare large-scale text datasets for training, testing, and evaluation of models.
• Build and monitor systems for evaluating and maintaining the quality, fairness, and safety of deployed LLMs.
• Develop and implement AI agents capable of autonomous task execution and decision-making.
• Apply non-generative machine learning techniques to complement and enhance generative AI systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align AI solutions with business needs and objectives.
• Stay at the forefront of advancements in generative AI, NLP, and machine learning, integrating new techniques as appropriate.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Data Science and Natural Language Processing (NLP)
• Demonstrated expertise in LLMs and generative AI technologies (e.g., GPT, BERT, Transformer models), including fine-tuning and RAG pipelines.
• Solid understanding of non-generative machine learning techniques, including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning.
• Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in ML libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Jax or Hugging Face Transformers.
• Hands-on experience with AI model monitoring, evaluation, and lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with building and deploying AI agents in real-world applications.
• Knowledge of data engineering workflows and tools for large-scale data processing.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  
  

This role is based in Zürich and will be expected to work from our Zürich office in a hybrid model Monday - Wednesday.
