Site Reliability Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Kubernetes Platform SRE to join our client's team in Basel on a 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension. You will be part of a highly technical OpenShift team. As a Senior Kubernetes Platform SRE, your main responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and managing Kubernetes clusters while ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.

Overall, we are looking for an experienced Kubernetes Platform SRE with strong technical knowledge in OpenShift/Kubernetes platform administration and engineering, as well as proficiency in Bash, Python, and/or Golang.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes clusters in an OpenShift environment, utilizing GitOps practices.
• Develop and implement strategies for container orchestration, scaling, and management.
• Provide support to development teams in their use of container technology.
• Utilize shell scripting, Python, or Golang to automate and manage platform tasks.

Requirements:

• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in managing OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms.
• Strong proficiency with code management solutions, especially GIT, and CI/CD tools.
• Expertise in Bash, Python, and/or Golang for maintaining and developing tools for Kubernetes platform management.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration.
• Proven experience providing third-level support and design input in an enterprise environment.
• At least five years of relevant work experience.

Nice-to-Haves (not mandatory):

• Experience with automation tools, particularly Ansible.
• Familiarity with systems monitoring, ideally using Prometheus.
• Logging experience with Grafana Loki.
• Experience with Ceph Storage and OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF).
• Broad understanding of ITIL fundamentals and their application in a business environment.
• Knowledge of networking, server infrastructure, and virtualization technologies.
