SENIOR PORJECT MANAGER

Contract duration: initial 6-month contract - renewable

Project: Frigate restoration

The organization is responsible for managing and coordinating all maritime operations within its area of responsibility. It focuses on strategic planning, resource management, and ensuring the readiness of naval forces to address various maritime challenges. The organization plays a vital role in maintaining maritime security, conducting search and rescue missions, and supporting international maritime collaborations.

The Senior Project Manager will coordinate the rebuild of the frigate capability encompassing material, personnel, operational and so on. The project spans both national and international dimensions, demanding strategic leadership, technical expertise and flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Coordination:

• Develop and execute a roadmap.
• Lead Navy and Defence teams and crewmembers across material, personnel, and operational domains.
• Ensure alignment with national and international stakeholders, regulations and standards.

Stakeholder Management:

• Act as the primary liaison between the staff of the Navy, the Netherlands Navy and private companies.
• Foster strong relationships with diverse teams to ensure alignment on objectives and deliverables.
• Effectively communicate project goals, milestones, and progress to stakeholders in Dutch and English.

Resource Optimization:

• Plan the needs of resources, including budget, personnel, and materials.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with resource constraints.

Operational Excellence:

• Address the full spectrum of challenges with innovative and practical solutions.
• Ensure the project’s compliance with operational protocols and quality standards.
• Monitor and evaluate operational performance, adjusting strategies as needed.

Team Development:

• Build, mentor, and guide a multidisciplinary team to achieve project success.
• Promote a collaborative and problem-solving culture across all levels.

International Engagement:

• Navigate the complexities of international collaboration, including cultural sensitivities and differing regulatory environments.
• Represent the project in international forums and negotiations.

Role Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of project management experience
• Familiarity with industry-specific technologies, systems, and standards is mandatory
• Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex projects with international components
• Strong ability to manage stakeholders and mediate across cultural and professional boundaries
• Understanding of national and international regulatory frameworks.
• Insight into operational workflows and material management systems.
• Awareness of cultural and geopolitical sensitivities relevant to international collaboration
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in project management, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Certifications in project management methodologies (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) are highly desirable.
• NATO security clearance is a plus.
• Good knowledge of MS software
• Native in Dutch is mandatory, alongside excellent communication skills in English and French

Location

• Main working location: Port of Bruges/Evere (BE)
• Regular travel to Den Helder (NL), Bruges and Ostend (BE) is required (Depending on project status)
• Remote work is limited
