Job Description

  • A Network Operations Engineer is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing an organization’s network infrastructure.
  • This role ensures that the network operates efficiently, is secure, and meets performance standards. The engineer monitors, troubleshoots, and resolves network issues, while also implementing upgrades and changes to improve system performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor network performance, identify and resolve issues related to connectivity, bandwidth, and latency.
  • Configure, install, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment. Perform regular updates and patching of network devices.
  • Respond to network outages and failures, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. Document incidents, resolutions, and follow-up actions.
  • Continuously optimize network performance to ensure scalability and reliability. Conduct regular performance tests and report on network health.
  • Provide technical support to other departments and train junior staff on network-related tasks and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in network operations or a similar role. Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining large-scale network systems.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are often required.
  • A solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.), network topology, and routing/switching.
