How do you make our customers happy?
By ensuring seamless connectivity across bol’s mission-critical infrastructure. Our network backbone supports up to 800 orders per minute, connects multiple warehouses with 10k+ pickup points, and serves roughly 25 million monthly active users. As part of Team H2O, you’ll design and optimize network solutions that maintain 99.99% uptime while scaling to meet growing demands. Your expertise will directly impact our ability to process transactions reliably and enable us to consistently deliver exceptional customer experiences.
The biggest challenge
Balancing continuous growth and change with structural network resilience and security. As we scale our operation to support increasing interaction volumes and expand our warehouse network, you’ll need to design performant solutions that defend against all threats. That necessitates seamlessly integrating cloud and on-premise infrastructures while standardizing and automating network operations across our entire stack.
What You'll Do As H2O Network Engineer
As part of the H2O team (7 engineers), you’ll co-own the critical network infrastructure that powers bol’s operations. You’ll work across data centers, cloud environments (GCP), and physical locations to ensure reliable connectivity for both engineering and business teams. Your expertise in Cisco and Juniper technologies and deep cloud networking knowledge enable you to design and implement the scalable solutions we require.
Responsibilities
Your focus spans network architecture, security, and automation. You’ll develop standardized approaches for common networking challenges that offer flexibility to cope with unique requirements. Leveraging tools like Puppet and Ansible, you’ll drive infrastructure automation and minimize the need for manual intervention. Within our GCP environment, you’ll work with VPCs, Cloud Load Balancing, and advanced network security tools. Key responsibilities include:
Because you combine proven networking expertise, strong collaboration skills, and a drive to automate processes. Your experience spans ISO layers 1-3, GCP networking, and infrastructure security (including NGFW and IPS/IDS systems). If you are also versed in network automation (Puppet and Ansible) and Kubernetes networking architectures, that would be a big plus. Success hinges on your ability to drive demonstrable business value through technical excellence.
3 redenen waarom dit (n)iets voor jou is Switch to find out
You’ll join Team H2O, the network infrastructure backbone of bol’s operations. Working alongside six other experienced engineers, you’ll help shape the future of our hybrid network architecture. The position combines technical depth with business impact – every optimization you implement measurably affects our ability to serve colleagues and customers effectively.
