Staff Software Engineer

In this role, you will be a technical lead building Rivian’s Gear Shop supporting our Accessories & Gears team. Gear Shop team will integrate with existing services and develop themes and apps for our Shopify storefront based on our Rivian Design System. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader capable of collaborating with product management, engineering leaders, cross-functional teams, and architects to build a world-class product. You should take ownership of your domain, manage uncertainties, and be driven to solve complex problems, with a strong focus on system scalability and back-end performance.

 

  • Lead a team of frontend/fullstack developers while collaborating with UI/UX designers to deliver seamless and cohesive user experiences.
  • Drive the creation of custom Shopify themes through DOM manipulation, asynchronous JavaScript, advanced CSS, Liquid templating, and metafields integration.
  • Develop custom Shopify Apps to integrate with Rivian’s digital platform.
  • Ensure the feasibility of UI/UX designs, optimizing for performance, scalability, and responsiveness.
  • Develop and maintain reusable, well-documented code libraries to support future projects.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends, integrating innovative approaches into development workflows.
  • Oversee the end-to-end development process, from initial concept to successful deployment.

 

  • Proven work experience as a Lead Shopify Fullstack Developer.
  • Experiences with SEO optimization.
  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience, with 5+ years of building large scale enterprise grade systems.
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technology field.
  • Software development experience in React, Node.js.
  • Proficiency in developing frontend components and single-page applications using technologies like
  • Typescript and React (or similar) with a keen eye for design.
  • Cloud development experience with AWS, GCP or Azure.
  • Meticulous around visibility of the systems you build - security, metrics,
    centralized logging, tracing.
  • Dedicated to unit, integration testing and coverage - comfortable using tools of
    the trade on profiling, source control.
  • Strong technical background in Computer Science, Engineering or a related
    technology field.
  • Familiarity working with AWS, Docker and Kubernetes or other
    serverless and container-based architectures.
  • Proficiency with cloud infrastructures (AWS preferred)
