Senior Software Engineer (Quality & Developer Experience)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to enhance the quality and reliability of Smartly's product suite. In this unique role, you'll tackle complex engineering challenges at the intersection of platform engineering, quality and developer experience — with impact across the entire Product & Engineering organization. You’ll build tools to validate frontend and backend performance, AI agents to improve DevEx, ensure the resiliency of systems to failures of components they depend on, expand and improve tooling and infra for functional automated testing. Working alongside our Quality Lead, Principal Engineers, and Infrastructure teams, you'll drive engineering excellence through hands-on collaboration and knowledge sharing with product teams.

We are technology agnostic and always strive to choose the best tools for the job. You should be comfortable getting acquainted with new tools, technologies, or approaches fast. The primary tools/technologies you’ll use include Playwright, Sentry, GitHub Actions, PostgreSQL, k6, ToxyProxy and TypeScript as a programming language.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will...

• Design and develop tools to boost the reliability and quality of Smartly products, making a significant impact on over 15 product teams.
• Incorporate AI to elevate developer experience.
• Contribute to the codebases with spread ownership.
• Drive the implementation and usage of the tools you create, guiding teams to success. Mentor members of product development teams of best practices such as observability, resiliency and testability.
• Apply and enhance your soft skills, working closely with multiple product teams.
• Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, advertising, and digital marketing.
  
  
  

What We Are Looking For...

• Proven track record in creating development tools and infrastructure adopted by multiple teams.
• Autonomy, proactivity and the ability to unblock yourself when you need help.
• Strong ability to explain and visualize complex concepts in simple terms.
• Ability and desire to dive into unfamiliar areas and learn fast.
• Experience with Sentry or similar tools to collect and visualize information about application performance.
• Building scalable data storages to keep thousands of millions of records.
• Ability to work in a hybrid capacity from our Berlin/Helsinki office 3 days a week (more if you like).
