The Opportunity
Reporting to the Store Design & Construction Manager, the Project Manager will be a key contributor in the successful and timely delivery of UNIQLO projects throughout Australia. This individual will work closely with the store development and cross functional teams across the complete project lifecycle to ensure the pipeline of new stores is delivered to UNIQLO standards.
At UNIQLO, projects are rarely linear so the need to be adaptable to shifting circumstances is important. Independent thinking and strong communication skills are also vital in successfully collaborating with multiple project stakeholders both internally and externally.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the successful delivery of Uniqlo projects, including standards of performance, technical quality, cost and safety
- Whole lifecycle project planning from initial design and scope development, preparation of critical path and overall project programs, through construction to final handover.
- Oversee and manage on-site activities including quality control of subcontractors’ work against UQ global and local standards. Timely management of defects rectification before project completion and handover to the operations team
- Manage LL Handovers ensuring base build, architectural and coordinated services are reflective of on-site conditions and agreed scope
- Maintain effective project governance and systems to be utilised throughout project
- Cost management in line with approved budgets including cost reporting and approvals.
- Risk management and mitigation of design and construction related issues, manage RFIs and change control process
- Manage project procurement activities. General contractor and direct vendor management
- Facilitate value engineering activities, ensuring project buildability and best practices are maintained
- Manage the flow of project information between internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors and suppliers
- Carry out site inspections (interstate travel will be involved)
- Manage (through consultants) permits and statutory matters
- Growth mindset; continuously aim to improve by ensuring key information and learning generated from each project is captured, shared internally and used on consecutive projects
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Construction Project Management or equivalent
- 5 years experience in project management of retail construction and/or fit outs, large format retail an advantage.
- Experience and knowledge of all of the main project management concepts, tools and techniques
- Experience in leading multiple projects concurrently
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to work proactively as part of a committed team
- A natural ability to lead projects and implement agile best practices and control processes
- Expertise in cost governance, demonstrated ability to analyse and negotiate costs
- Excellent organisational skills and detail oriented
- Proactive and professional communication style – both written and verbal
- “Can do” attitude including positive and resilient mindset, and ability to adapt to shift changing circumstances and ambiguity.
